Prof. Tateyama has been working on advanced computational studies on electronic and ionic behaviors in various types of batteries, in the context of “interface” electrochemistry and ionics. He has provided several new computational methods (especially for sampling) in those fields as well as novel elucidations of battery phenomena (e.g. concentrated liquid electrolyte, solid-solid interface, ion transport in disordered systems). Currently, he is a professor in Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech) as well as a group leader in National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), and acts as the leader of the national project on Materials Physics and Chemistry (MPC) with the supercomputer “Fugaku” in Japan.
