Marinescu, Monica

Imperial College London, UK

Monica Marinescu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London. She has worked in the field of electrochemical energy storage for 13 years and leads a research group focussing on identifying the mechanisms that limit the performance of batteries (Li-ion and Li-Sulfur) and supercapacitors. She has developed bespoke modelling tools and experimental techniques that inform the design of battery cells and packs with increased performance, and enable their better use, focussing on thermal effects and degradation prediction. She is the author of 70 peer reviewed publications. She is also the Co-founder and Chief Scientific Advisor of Ionetic, a software-accelerated battery pack development company. She is passionate about enabling industry advancements, and collaborated with more than 20 industry partners to translate research outputs into products in electrification applications.
