Latz, Arnulf

Helmholtz Institute Ulm, Germany

Arnulf Latz is a professor of Electrochemical Multiphysics Modeling at Ulm University and Head of the Department for Computational Electrochemistry at the German Aerospace Center (DLR). He is also a Principal Investigator and member of the board of directors at the Helmholtz Institute Ulm (HIU) for Electrochemical Energy Storage. His research involves developing non-equilibrium thermodynamics approaches and simulations for electrochemical storage and conversion technologies, such as lithium-ion, solid-state, and post-lithium batteries.
Prof. Latz earned his PhD in Theoretical Physics in 1991 and completed his habilitation at Johannes Gutenberg University, Mainz. He has a background in academic and applied research, previously leading a group at the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics (ITWM). He is known for connecting fundamental research with industrial applications, participating in various projects and contributing to the development of the “BEST” battery simulation software.
