🎨 Architecture & Art

The Palais is renowned for its distinctive multicolored glass façade and iconic interior installations:

  • Verrière: A vibrant glass wall designed by architect Mario Saia, added during the 2002 expansion.

  • Nature légère: A surreal installation by landscape architect Claude Cormier, featuring 52 pink concrete tree trunks, symbolizing Montréal’s historic tree-lined avenues.

These artistic elements have earned the Palais recognition among the “1001 architectural wonders to see in your lifetime” .

🌱 Sustainability & Innovation

Demonstrating a strong commitment to environmental responsibility, the Palais has implemented several green initiatives

  • Carbon Neutrality: Achieved in 2019 through greenhouse gas offsetting, including tree planting in collaboration with Université Laval’s Montmorency Forest.

  • Green Roof: Since 2011, the rooftop has hosted urban agriculture projects, including one of the world’s first urban vineyards established in 2017.

  • OASIS Immersion: Launched in 2020, this is Canada’s largest permanent immersive multimedia experience, featuring 105 laser projectors and 119 speakers for dynamic exhibitions .
